APDU President’s Letter to Membership

On behalf of the Association of Public Data Users (APDU) Board of Directors and staff, I want to wish you a happy new year! I am looking forward to 2022, which will be my second and final term as APDU President.

The APDU team is already hard at work planning an exciting series of events and activities. I am particularly pleased to announce that we are hosting two meetings this year—a virtual and in-person event. Our virtual meeting, “A Future For Good: How Public Data Helps Us Create Resiliency and Equity for All,” will be held May 3-4. More information is available on the APDU home page, and presentation proposals are being accepted until February 11, 5:00 p.m. In September, APDU will be hosting an in-person meeting. We look forward to unveiling additional details in the coming months. We hope by dividing our annual meeting into two smaller events, we will maximize options for our members.

In 2022, APDU will continue to offer its members a range of training and networking opportunities as well as provide timely information via its regular newsletter. In February, we will be hosting our first training event, “Beginner R Training: Data Science for Community, Workforce, and Economic Development Research.” Registration details are posted on the APDU home page.

Once again, thank you for being an APDU member! Please feel free to contact the APDU staff or any board members if you have ideas, concerns, or need assistance. We want to ensure APDU is serving the needs of its members and the broader public data user community.
