About
The Statistics of Income program of the Internal Revenue Service, which resides in the Treasury Department, is a principal Federal source of income statistics. It collects, analyzes, and disseminates information on the Federal tax system, annually conducting more than 100 different projects that involve data from tax returns and information documents. Three of SOI’s largest projects produce annual income, financial, and tax data collected from individual, corporate, and partnership returns. Additional data items collected include annual tax data reflecting U.S. and international economic activities, smaller filing populations, as well as estate, gift, and excise tax returns.
