Energy Information Administration



The Energy Information Administration of the Department of Energy is a principal Federal source of energy statistics. It collects, analyzes, and disseminates independent and impartial energy information to promote sound policymaking, efficient markets, and public understanding of energy and its interaction with the economy and the environment. EIA conducts a wide range of data collection, analysis, forecasting, and dissemination activities to ensure relevant energy information, essential in informing a wide range of energy-related decisions and policy development.
