The Bureau of Transportation Statistics of the Department of Transportation is a principal Federal source of transportation statistics. It gathers, analyzes, and disseminates information about the Nation’s transportation systems, including the extent, use, condition, performance, and consequences of those systems. Program topics include freight and travel statistics, transportation economics, geospatial information systems, and airline transportation statistics. BTS also administers the National Transportation Library, which maintains and facilitates access to statistical and other information needed for transportation decision making.
