2023 APDU Data Storytelling Awards: Call for Visualizations

APDU is soliciting creative and meaningful stories driven by publicly available data (for example, data from the Census Bureau or Bureau of Labor Statistics) that blend numbers, narrative, and graphics.

About the Award:

APDU is updating its long-running Data Viz Awards to emphasize the importance of storytelling to communicate trends and insights to a variety of audiences, making data more accessible for community members and decision makers.

APDU welcomes submissions from:

  • Federal, State, and Local Government
  • Non-profit and research organizations, including academic institutions
  • Private sector firms, consultancies, and advocacy groups

Submission Deadline: Friday, June 2, 2023

The Rise of Industrial Policy Means Data Synchronization is More Critical Than Ever

Industrial policy is the hot new trend in D.C. policymaking circles, a Biden administration promise to radically transform the economy that is pouring federal dollars into green energy, infrastructure, and semiconductor manufacturing. While this transformation will place considerable demands on federal data infrastructure, the administration has taken up this challenge with its work to improve the level of disaggregation offered by national statistics and to account for environmental wealth in national accounts, to name just two new initiatives.
