2023 APDU Data Storytelling Awards: Call for Visualizations

|

The Association of Public Data Users (APDU) is pleased to announce the 2023 Data Storytelling Awards. We are soliciting creative and meaningful stories driven by publicly available data (for example, data from the Census Bureau or Bureau of Labor Statistics) that blend numbers, narrative, and graphics.

About the Award:

APDU is updating its long-running Data Viz Awards to emphasize the importance of storytelling to communicate trends and insights to a variety of audiences, making data more accessible for community members and decision makers.

APDU welcomes submissions from:

  • Federal, State, and Local Government
  • Non-profit and research organizations, including academic institutions
  • Private sector firms, consultancies, and advocacy groups

Key Notes:

An impartial expert committee will select five winning entries to highlight at the 2023 APDU Annual Conference on July 26, 2023, in Arlington, VA. Winners who are students in undergraduate or graduate programs will receive a free APDU membership for 2024.

Submissions must have been created after January 1, 2022. All visualizations nominated for presentation at the Annual Conference will be eligible for the award. Registration and attendance at the conference is not required. APDU will share the award at the Annual Conference, as well as other forms of communications including social media.
