Public data doesn’t need to just refer to the federal statistical system: there is a universe of publicly available data coming from a variety of sources including state and local governments and nonprofits. There is an opportunity to unlock the value of public data by examining its multidimensionality across federal, state, and local levels. Come to APDU’s 2023 Annual Conference to explore this expanding universe of public data!

The Congressional District Health Dashboard is a new, free website that gives policymakers and advocates a one-stop resource of unbiased, nonpartisan data at the congressional-district level to inform the development of policies that give everyone the opportunity for good health and wellbeing.

Join this APDU webinar where our presenters will introduce participants to the tool, share how local governments, non-profits, academia, and businesses can prioritize health policy topics by viewing customized health snapshots and interactive maps, and explore how they worked with public datasets to create this new platform.

Using Data to Explore the Impact of Green Space on Communities

April 17, 2023

3:00 PM – 4:00 PM ET

The Massive Data Institute at Georgetown’s McCourt School of Public Policy recently hosted a Green Space Data Challenge, which provided participants with an opportunity to create or improve indicators involving green space to better understand and measure community impact. Each project was evaluated by expert judges from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), USDA-Forest Service, Urban Health Collaborative at Drexel University, and the Spatial Analysis Lab at the University of Vermont. Winning efforts will be announced in late March and will share their work with APDU.
