New Standard Application Process (SAP) Portal Now Live

U.S. Chief Statistician Karin Orvis enthusiastically announced the recent release of the Standard Application Process portal on her LinkedIn page with the following message:

“Alert! New Standard Application Process (SAP) portal for researchers and evidence builders seeking data! The SAP streamlines data access by accepting applications for access to restricted, confidential data from the nation’s statistical agencies and units for evidence building purposes.”

What does this mean? There is now a single front door for finding and requesting data access – without needing to already know which statistical agency houses the data you need, or navigating various agency websites and request processes.

This is a significant advancement! Major kudos to the federal Interagency Council on Statistical Policy. The ICSP’s collaborative efforts embody a more seamless Federal statistical system – enabling greater evidence building, civic engagement, and public and private sector decision-making.”
